How to free up Disk Space

  • INTRODUCTION

At times, after a prolonged usage period, the Dualog environment on the Dualog server might start taking up too much space. This guide pinpoints the files that can be deleted in order to recoup some hard disk space.

Attached at the bottom of this article you will find a simple script that will automatically free up some space from the main Hard Disk.

  •  USING THE SCRIPT
  1. Save the attached file to desktop and rename it as a batch file (eg. cleanup.bat)
  2. Click on the Start button in Windows, then select Programs or All Programs on the menu that appears, then Dualog, then Connection suite, then Support.
  3. Click on 'Stop Connection Suite services' and wait for tasks to finish. (You will see 'Press any key to continue' once task has finished).
  4. Click on the Start button in Windows, then on Programs or All Programs, then Oracle Database 10G or 11G, then Stop Database. Wait for the task to complete.
  5. Now right click on the script file you preemptively renamed and select 'run as administrator'. Wait for the task to complete.
  6. Click on the Start button in Windows, then on Programs or All Programs, then Oracle Database 10G or 11G, then Start Database.
  7. Click on the Start button in Windows, then select Programs or All Programs on the menu that appears, then Dualog, then Connection suite, then Support, then Start Connection Suite services.
  8. If the above does not free up enough disk space, please proceed with the following manual deletion procedure.
  •  DELETING TARGET FILES AND FOLDERS

The following files/folders are safe to be manually deleted.

  1. Access the drive where Dualog is installed (usually C:)
  2. Go to the "Dualog" folder
  3. Go to "ConnectionSuite"
  4. Access the "backup" folder and delete the files inside the "indir" and "outdir" folders.

  5. Go to "vessel"
  6. Access the "log" folder and delete the "production.txt" file.

  3. Go to "ConnectionSuite"
  4. Go to "smtp"
  5. Go to "backup"
  6. Access the "outdir" folder and remove all files within.

  2. Go to the "Dualog" folder
  3. Go to "ConnectionSuite"
  4. Access the "sentdir" folder and remove all files within.

 

  1. Access the drive where Dualog is installed (usually C:)
  2. On the address field at the top of the C:\ window, where the local path is defined, type: %temp% (% signs included) and hit enter.
  3. Delete every file that appears as a result of this command. If any of those files cannot be deleted, please disregard them.

 

If the above does not free up enough disk space please check if c:\dualog\mail store is taking up most of the disk space. This folder contains IMAP emails utilized by your users and cannot be deleted. Under such circumstances, please consider upgrading to a larger disk.
