ESET situation for version 5.0 - upgrade path and download links

Symptom

ESET Antivirus suffered some critical failure due to one of ESET’s certificates expiration. This resulted in ESET Antivirus systems stop working if the computers were restarted.

-ESET screen changed to ESET SMART SECURITY 5.0
-Unable to update definition engine.
-Unable to perform virus test normally

Dualog Repair Procedure

The following procedure is required to be performed for vessel installed with ESET V5.0

  • Procedure on Dualog Connection Suite PC
    -Download latest version of Dualog Connection Suite Core setup, Dualog Antivirus Server 2.38.001.22, Virus Definition base file and ESET CertFix Toolkit
    -Upgrade to latest version of Dualog Connection Suite 
    -R
    un CertFix Toolkit
    -Uninstall ESET Endpoint Antivirus
    -Restart Dualog Connection Suite PC

    -Install Dualog Antivirus Server 2.38.001.22 with virus definition base file

  • Procedure on other PCs with Dualog Antivirus client 
    -Run CertFix Toolkit
    -Uninstall ESET Endpoint Antivirus
    -Uninstall Dualog Antivirus Client
    -Restart computer
    -Download new Dualog Antivirus Client installer from Connection Suite PC (Connection Suite UI)
    -Install Dualog Antivirus Client

Note: For Uninstalling Eset, please use the following Eset uninstaller and Procedure to perform the uninstallation.

(This requires the computer to be in safe mode, it is applied for all Eset Server and Client Installer)

- For Windows 10 putting to safe mode, press ctrl + F8 on booting up.

- For Windows 7 putting to safe mode, press F8 on booting up.

Do download the esetuninstaller.exe and Eset Uninstaller.pdf found attached at the end of this article and place it on the Computer desktop that has Eset being installed.

You may need help from an onboard member to assist with putting the computer to "safe mode" as this will result in the loss of the internet and no remote access to the computer.

 

ESET CertFix Tool

Open the command prompt as administrator and go to directory where "Certfix" is located. Execute "Certfix_mu.exe".

ESET is repaired with "Successfully patched" prompted in the command prompt.
