Dualog Drive – SMB Errors

Introduction

When a UNC path is used in the source or destination of a task configuration to store or collect files from a remote location, Dualog Drive uses Samba: an implementation of Window’s SMB protocol to access, read and write to the remote location.

SMB/Samba Errors

An error related to SMB or Samba notified on the Dualog Drive page does usually not pertain the Dualog Drive transfer task configuration, but it rather the saving, collecting or modification of files on the remote location.
To confirm that this is the nature of the ongoing issue, modify the task's source and/or destination path so that it lies within a local path on the same server where Dualog Drive is installed. If the Dualog Drive task resumes, it means that the issue is related to the remote storage location.

Once confirmed this is an SMB issue, relevant troubleshooting can include:

  • ensuring that the user account used by Dualog Drive services has the needed read/write access to the remote location
  • ensuring that the remote location is available and accessible; for example by navigating to the remote share using Windows Explorer
  • ensuring that the remote location is not write-protected
  • ensuring that the files in the remote location are not configured with a read-only flag
  • ensuring that the remote location supports SMBv2 or higher
  • ensuring that no other process is using or locking the files in question

Further questions may be directed to Dualog Support, bearing in mind that issues related to SMB or Samba will pertain to access to the remote location.
