Introduction
When a UNC path is specified as the source or destination in a task configuration, Dualog Drive accesses remote locations using Samba, an implementation of the Windows SMB protocol. This enables the system to read from and write to shared network locations seamlessly.
SMB/Samba Errors
An SMB or Samba-related error reported in Dualog Drive typically does not indicate an issue with the transfer task configuration itself. Instead, it usually relates to how files are being accessed, saved, or modified on the remote location.
To verify this, update the task’s source and/or destination to use a local path on the same server where Dualog Drive is installed. If the task resumes successfully, this confirms that the issue is related to the remote storage location.
Troubleshooting SMB Issues
If the problem is confirmed to be SMB-related, consider the following checks:
- Ensure the user account running Dualog Drive services has the necessary read and write permissions on the remote location
- Verify that the remote location is available and accessible (e.g., by opening the share in Windows Explorer)
- Confirm that the remote location is not write-protected
- Check that the files are not set to read-only
- Ensure the remote system supports SMBv2 or later
- Verify that no other processes are locking or using the files
Further questions may be directed to Dualog Support, always bearing in mind that issues related to SMB or Samba will pertain to access to the remote location.
