Internet Access Blocked on Windows 11 Computers

In certain instances where computers do not have access to the internet e.g. internet access is blocked in Dualog Network Control or Quota, there is a chance that Windows Security will block the startup of some Dualog services. If this happens, the functionality of Dualog onboard may be affected.

Note: this issue does not affect computers with 3rd-party security solutions

To rectify this, Windows Defender "Cloud Protection" needs to be disabled temporarily before starting the Dualog services. After doing this once, Windows Defender will allow them to start in future.

These are the required steps:

  1. Open Windows Security and open Virus & threat protection
  2. Click on Manage Settings
  3. Disable "Cloud Protection" and "Submit Samples"
  4. Start all Dualog services under Services, which can be found via the Search tool on the Windows task bar
  5. Re-enable "Cloud Protection" and "Submit Samples" under Windows Security again
