Dualog Backup using Mapped Drives

Mapped network drives can be used as a destination for Dualog Backup. However, several important considerations must be taken into account.

  1. Service Account Permissions: If the local system account is not being used, ensure that the user account running the Dualog Connection Suite IMAP Service has read and write permissions for the mapped network folder. This permission is required for the backup process to function correctly.

You may have already set this when creating the Mapped Drive by choosing Connect using different credentials and a Windows prompt will appear.

2. Depending on your Windows Drive configuration, mapped drive letters are sometimes not supported. If this occurs, the backup configuration must use a UNC path instead. To identify the UNC path associated with a mapped drive, follow these steps:

  • Press the Windows key + R, then type cmd and click OK
  • Once the command prompt has opened, type net use and press enter
  • A list of your mapped drives will appear together with the relevant UNC paths.

3. Use the identified UNC path as the backup location in the configuration. Wherever possible, use the IP address instead of hostname in the path.

4. After configuration is complete, wait for the next vessel connection cycle, or initiate a manual connection on the vessel to trigger synchronization.

5. To test the configuration, navigate to: http://localhost/shipui/admin-panel#imapBackup From here, select Run Manual Backup to verify that the backup process completes successfully on your new mapped drive.
