INTRODUCTION
If an email message exceeds a certain preconfigured size restriction, it will be set into quarantine or rejected if Quarantine the feature is not enabled.
As an additional layer of email filtering and security, Spam Score quarantine is now available.
When enabled, all incoming emails with a spam score higher than a certain threshold are quarantined before being delivered to the intended vessels.
Dualog MailDefence evaluates and determines the spam score.
This article will walk you through the process of enabling the spam score quarantine feature, editing the spam score option, and releasing quarantined emails due to the spam score threshold.
ENABLING OF SPAM SCORE QUARANTINE
- Upon logging into the Dualog portal with your account, proceed to Connection Suite > Email
- Go to Settings > Under the Quarantine section, click on Edit settings
- Click on Edit Threshold
- The best practice would be to select "7-10" option (the selection option can tweaked as needed to meet your requirements)
- Save Changes
Note: The threshold option can be changed at any time, and it will apply to newer incoming emails.
Using the recommended option of the spam score 7-10 threshold for quarantine as an example, these are the possible scenarios based on the different spam score thresholds:
- All emails with a spam score of 0-4 are delivered to vessels.
- For all emails with spam score of 4-10, a {SPAM?} tag will be added to the subject of the email.
- Emails with a spam score between 4-7 will be delivered to vessels, but with the {SPAM?} tag in the email subject.
- Emails with a spam score between 7-10 will be quarantined and have to be released from the Dualog Apps portal. Once released, these emails will then be delivered to vessels with the {SPAM?} tag in the email subject.
- Emails with a spam score of 10 and above are automatically blocked and are not available for release.
Editing the spam score threshold for quarantine changes the score at which emails are quarantined or sent to vessels.
If you apply the Moderate setting under Spam Score Quarantine, emails with a spam score between 4-10 will still have {SPAM?} added to the email subject, but will only be quarantined for release on the Dualog Apps portal if the scores are between 9-10.
RELEASING OF SPAM SCORE QUARANTINED EMAILS
