INTRODUCTION
This article will walk you through adding DKIM and DMARC to your vessel's domain(s) to provide further protection against email spoofing by preventing the outgoing emails from being mistakenly identified as spoofed emails and complying with best security practices.
PRELIMINARY INFORMATION
For detailed information on SPF, DKIM, and DMARC, please refer here.
Please contact your domain provider or domain administrator if you are unsure how to add CNAME or DNS TXT entries to your domain.
PREREQUISITES
Complete the mandatory email domain setup for your vessels' domain(s).
STEPS
- Send an email to support@dualog.com with the domains you'd like DKIM enabled, and wait for confirmation.
- Add the following CNAME record to the DNS server after getting confirmation, replacing [domain.com] and [domain-com] as needed:
dualog1._domainkey.[domain.com] > s1-[domain-com].dualogmail.com
Do note, that the > may not feature in your domain management solution; the CNAME records need to point from dualog1._domainkey.[domain.com] to s1-[domain-com].dualogmail.com and from dualog2._domainkey.[domain.com] to s2-[domain-com].dualogmail.com
dualog2._domainkey.[domain.com] > s2-[domain-com].dualogmail.com - Add the following DMARC record to the domain, as a DNS TXT record, replacing [email] as appropriate (aggregate DMARC reports will be sent to this email).
v=DMARC1; p=quarantine; rua=mailto:email@email.com
- You are all set up with DKIM and DMARC on your Dualog Mail service!
Please note, that DNS records can, in certain cases, take up to 48 hours to propagate.
