Guide on the User Activity feature

User Activity is a new feature released as part of Connection Suite 5.08. When enabled, this feature allows you to start logging user activities that occur onboard vessels on your fleet and is useful for auditing purposes. Do note that only ships with 5.08 and later installed will have access to this feature.

Once this feature has been enabled for your organisation, you may access it by opening the main menu bar on the Dualog Apps Portal and click on Ship Staff and navigate to the User Activity tab on the page that follows.

Here’s what the different sections on this page represent:

Global Settings

• Toggling “Log Dualog related user activity” to on will begin logging onboard user activity on your entire fleet

Individual Ship Settings

If you do not want to enable activity logging for the whole fleet at once e.g. you want to roll out the logging progressively by vessel or group of vessels, you have the option to roll it out to individual ships. Here are two scenarios to take note of:

1. You can choose to leave the global setting to log user activity as disabled but enable the feature for selected individual ships only. This can be done by clicking on the Ship setting button in this section, selecting a ship, enabling the toggle, and clicking on Save. 
   

 
User activity will now be logged moving forward for the selected vessels. 

1. Another scenario could be that the activity logging needs to be enabled for the entire fleet except for selected vessels. To achieve this, enable the toggle under Global Settings, then follow the same steps above for the individual ships, this time saving without enabling the toggle.
   
   
   
   

Once you have enabled activity logging for your selected ships, data will start showing up on the same page, under Active accounts and Activity, which will be described in further detail below.

Active accounts

• This lists the number of logins that have happened onboard your fleet in the last month

Activity

• This dashboard displays the number of logins across the last week

Included in the User Activity feature is access to an external dashboard hosted on OpenSearch. This allows you to view a comprehensive history user activity taken onboard ships where you have enabled the feature. A full guide on how to use the dashboard will be made available separately.
