How to uninstall Connection Suite

  • INTRODUCTION

This document serves the purpose of explaining in detail how to uninstall Dualog Connection Suite from the main server on board. Once the uninstall procedure is complete, the Dualog Connection Suite software and all its components will be removed, together with the entire email history of the vessel.

If your vessel is equipped with an IMAP server and you want to keep the email history and restore it on a new installation of Dualog Connection Suite, please redirect.jpg perform an IMAP backup before initiating the uninstall procedure. 

  • PRELIMINARY STEPS

This procedure needs to be performed on the redirect.jpg Dualog server.

Once you are ready to begin, please follow the following steps in rigorous numerical order.

  • UNINSTALL PROCEDURE
  1. Click on the Windows start button, then locate the Control Panel and click on it.
  2. On top-right corner of the Control Panel window, select “View by: Category”.
  3. Under the “Programs” category at the bottom left of the list, click on “Uninstall a program” .
  4. On the “Uninstall or Change a program” window that appears, locate “Dualog Connection Suite” on the list of installed programs, click on it with the right mouse button and select “Uninstall/Change”.
  5. Click “Yes” on the pop-up window that will appear. At this point, the automatic uninstall process will begin. Once this is started, there is no turning back! Now wait until the uninstall procedure ends.
  6. When the “Reboot now” popup window appears, click on “I want to manually reboot later” and click on the “Finish” button. At this point you will see a popup window confirming the successful removal of the Connection Suite software. Click on OK.
  • REMOVING THE DUALOG FOLDERS
  1. Click on the Windows start button, then click on the “Computer” option, then double-click on the Hard Disk where the Dualog software was installed (most of the times it is Local Disk (C:).
  2. If inside the C:\ directory of folders you see a “Dualog” folder, click on it with the right mouse button and select “Delete”, then confirm deletion clicking on the Yes button.
  • REMOVING TEMPORARY FILES
  1. Click on the Windows start button, then click on the “Computer”.
  2. On the path bar on top of the window, delete the ► Computer ► text and type %temp% (percentage symbols included). Hit enter.
  3. You will see a window with lots of different files. Select ALL of the files and delete all of them. You will probably receive an error message stating that a couple of files cannot be deleted. This is fine, just skip those files and let the deletion procedure come to an end.
  • REMOVING THE DUALOG REGISTRY ENTRIES

To make sure that the uninstallation procedure worked as intended, carry out this additional check:

  1. Click on the Windows start button, then write “regedit” on the “Search programs and files” field and hit enter. You will now see a window called “Registry Editor”.
  2. On the left side pane, expand the “HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE by clicking on the tiny right-facing arrow besides the name, then expand the folder SOFTWARE. If, under SOFTWARE, you see a folder called “Dualog”, click on it with the right mouse button and choose “Delete”. Click on “OK” on the pop-up dialogue box that will appear.
  3. Still under SOFTWARE, expand Microsoft, then expand Windows, then expand CurrentVersion, then expand Uninstall, then look for a folder called “Dualog Connection Suite”, click on it with the right mouse button and click on “Delete”. Click on “OK” on the pop-up dialogue box that will appear. If you don’t find a folder called “Dualog Connection Suite” there, it’s ok. You can skip this step.
  4. Still under SOFTWARE, expand Wow6432Node, then expand Microsoft, then expand Windows, then expand CurrentVersion, then expand Uninstall, then look for a folder called “Dualog Connection Suite”, click on it with the right mouse button and click on “Delete”. Click on “OK” on the pop-up dialogue box that will appear. If you don’t find a folder called “Dualog Connection Suite” there, it’s ok. You can skip this step.
  5. Still under SOFTWARE, expand Wow6432Node. If you see a folder called “Dualog”, click on it with the right mouse button and choose “Delete”. Click on “OK” on the pop-up dialogue box that will appear. If you don’t find a folder called “Dualog Connection Suite” there, it’s ok. You can skip this step.

You can now reboot the Dualog PC. The uninstallation is complete.

If your goal is to entirely remove the Dualog software from your PC or to perform a complete reinstall of Connection Suite, you will need to redirect.jpg uninstall the Oracle Database as well.
